Crusader Lodge on Mt Ruapehu is owned by Scripture Union and is used for Scripture Union camps. It is available to other groups, but priority will be given to Scripture Union's camps, particularly during the July and September school holidays.
Location
The Lodge is situated 1,249 metres above sea level, and is about 1 km beyond the Chateau on Mt Ruapehu. See signpost on the left to Rehua Place before the Whakapapanui Bridge, continue up Rehua Place on the left of the stream. The Lodge is just above the car park entrance.
The Lodge

The building accommodates a maximum of 32 persons with kitchen and living areas upstairs, and bunk rooms, bathroom and drying areas downstairs. Separate facilities are provided on the ground floor for up to 16 of each gender.
Bunk rooms
Bunk rooms are arranged in groups of four, with an additional sleeping shelf available for four mattresses end to end. Mattresses are supplied.
Kitchen

Two electric stoves, a microwave oven, zip and refrigerator, cooking gear, crockery, cutlery and tea towels are supplied.
General
The building is electrically heated and equipped with two drying rooms, hot water, showers and toilets. During the winter, to avoid freezing, the tap over the tub in the shower room must be left running when the Lodge is vacated. Detailed instructions are displayed on the wall in the Boot Room.
What you need to bring

- Suitable equipment and clothing for the mountain and snow conditions. Blankets or sleeping bag, pillow and pillow case.
- Each group needs to bring toilet rolls, detergent, cleaning agents, cleaning rags, dish mops, supply of rubbish bags (2 per day), etc.
- Milk and bread are available from the WHAKAPAPA MOTOR CAMP STORE, MT RUAPEHU - order at least two weeks in advance. Some groceries are available from this store as well.
- Meat and vegetables are available from National Park or Ohakune.
Rules
Parties using the Lodge must abide by the Lodge Conditions or Hire and the Tongariro National Park Board Rules.
