Leave a legacy Our ministry How to bequest

Working with churches around New Zealand, Scripture Union's ministry impacts about 5000 people each year. We do this through the following ministries:

Children and Families Ministry:

Our ministry to the Children and Families of New Zealand includes SUPAkidz clubs and camps, the WAY2GO children's ministry conference and eXtend regional training events. SUPAkidz clubs help churches reach out to children in their local primary schools through fun and interactive clubs that encourage children to think about God and how he can be a part of their life. SUPAkidz camps are creative and adventurous and help children explore who God is and how much he loves them. As part of our mission to train and equip leaders, Scripture Union runs the WAY2GO conference that inspires those working with children in churches and local communities. Through interactive workshops and plenary sessions, attendees are equipped and encouraged to reach out and influence the children around them for Jesus. For regions where WAY2GO is not run, our Children and Families Ministry runs the eXtend training events that are smaller and more focused than WAY2GO.

Schools Ministry:

Schools are such an important place - the years spent here shape and impact the young people of our nation. Scripture Union is active in intermediate and high schools around New Zealand and have staff throughout the country that are highly involved in the daily life of the schools in their city. Our schools staff support students running Christian groups, assist in the social and outdoor recreation aspects of the school and are involved in transition work with intermediate school students. Our staff run the YouthServe initiative that gives the chance for Christian students to put their faith into action by serving a local community in practical ways. Scripture Union's Schools Ministry is also involved with at-risk youth through programmes such as Stay Real in Christchurch, and help resource and train young leaders throughout New Zealand.

Camps Ministry:

A totally unique Adventure! That is what you will find on a Scripture Union Adventure Camp. Our Camping Ministry runs about 40 Adventure Camps a year all around New Zealand. Some of these camps are located in the most beautiful and exciting parts of our country, while some involve doing adventure activities like snowboarding, motorbiking and surfing. One thing is for sure - young people get to learn about the God who loves them through the Bible. In addition to running Adventure Camps for youth, our Camping Ministry runs various training events for young people to develop leadership skills. These training events teach young people how to lead effectively on camp, develop competence in outdoor recreation and how to encourage and disciple those they lead.

Bible Engagement:

Central to our three core ministries is teaching others to engage with God's word. This can take the form of teaching children about the Bible at SUPAkidz clubs and camps, opening the word with high school students, and Bible studies and discussion on our Adventure Camps. Scripture Union runs an online store in which bible reading guides and devotions for all ages are available. Scripture Union also partners with other Christian organisations such as The Bible Society In New Zealand in promoting Bible engagement through initiatives such as the E100 Challenge.
