Profile: Wayne Fraser
Tena koutou. My role at Scripture Union is one of serving the team of staff and volunteers around our country. I am constantly humbled by the privilege of working alongside a talented team of people, and always amazed at the influence Scripture Union activities have had on the lives of so many people around the world. Coming from a background that has been a mix of pastoral ministry, theological training, and hands on work with children and young people, I am committed to enabling the local church to be as effective in mission as God intended it to be.
Role Profile
My role is a varied role and I enjoy being able to exercise leadership and speak about both our mission and opening the Bible together. Working between our board and staff as well as volunteers, I am responsible for the overall direction and healthiness of our ministry. In this mix, helping us all to think strategically about we do is important, but so too is experiencing the deep joy of partnering with God to build His kingdom.
Personal Profile
I grew up experiencing the best of what it means to live in provincial New Zealand. Nelson was a great place to live and some formative spiritual experiences and role models were a part of that. Heading for a career in the arts, I was diverted instead to Bible College study and the building blocks of future ministry were added one at a time from there. Ministry in Tauranga and then back in Nelson and then back to Bible College of New Zealand, eventually led to my current role. Nicola and I with our two teenage daughters, Chelsea and Lauren, moved to Wellington in 2007 and most of us live in the Hutt Valley.
