Raewyn’s role in the Wellington region is to oversee SUPAkidz clubs and camps and provide training through WAY2GO and church consultancy.
Raewyn’s work is focused in these four areas:
Overseeing SUPAkidz clubs: primary school children actively choose to attend these clubs at lunchtime or after school. Together with committed volunteer leaders, they learn about God, and interactively explore Christian values. There are now 10 SUPAkidz clubs in the Wellington area attended by about 370 children. Raewyn works with more than 50 voluntary leaders as they work with children in their local communities. Raewyn regularly trains many new volunteers and works intentionally to develop new clubs in the Wellington region.
Raewyn is an important part of our WAY2GO Christian children’s ministry training conferences in Wellington, Auckland and Invercargill. She trains and equips adults and teenagers to help them be more effective as they work with children. She is the key organizer for the annual Wellington WAY2GO conference, which was attended by about 250 people in March 2010.
SUPAkidz primary-aged camping: Raewyn is part of a working group looking at establishing these camps in the region, which may include a focus on disadvantaged children. These camps provide the opportunity for club leaders to bring their children along, giving them the opportunity to build deeper relationships and have more time to share Jesus. It provides the same chance for churches to send groups with their children’s workers as well.
Raewyn also regularly works with churches to train and equip leaders and support children’s workers. She runs workshops and encourages churches to nurture the children in their local communities.
Raewyn has a background in teaching and has lived in the Wellington region her whole life. She is married with four adult children.
