If you’re a team member on an upcoming camp (including Studies, Adj, Music, Cook or Camp Parent roles)
or
if you are interested in helping at a Scripture Union camp (minimum age 17 years), then you’ll get lots out of these events:
• Ways to build community
• how to get campers into their Bibles
• recent developments in Scripture Union camping
• Meet new people
• Fun times
• Stories, games & resources

ChildSafe training
Scripture Union camps volunteers work online to complete ChildSafe training modules and quizzes before they attend camp. At the Team Member level, there are two modules - “Keeping People Safe” and Child Protection”. Find out more about the ChildSafe safety and care system that we use with Scripture Union camps.

Outdoor instructor training
All our team members should attend an Outdoor First Aid course.

In addition, our camps need people who are qualified to run ‘risk’ activities e.g. swim, day walk, kayak.

Useful instructor awards for Scripture Union camps include:
Pool Lifeguard
Bushwalk Leader*
Kayak Leader*
Mountain bike Leader*
Rockclimb Leader*

Are you a committed Scripture Union volunteer who is keen to upskill?

We subsidise camp activity leaders to attend 2-day outdoor courses in order to train towards a specific Leader qualification.
Following your training, you should arrange to help instruct lots of groups, before you go on one of the national assessments.

* these new entry-level outdoor ‘Leader’ qualifications are jointly offered by NZ Outdoor Instructors Assn, Skills Active and Mountain Safety Council.
