For nearly 80 years, Scripture Union's innovative camps have offered the opportunity to experience adventure in some of New Zealand's most amazing locations – we now run about 50 camps and training events annually.

Our camps nurture young people's minds, bodies, emotions and spirits through quality relationships. They give campers the chance to make new friends, enjoy being out in God's awesome creation, relate to a youthful Christian team and to explore the Bible and prayer for themselves, so that they get to know God in a real way.

In addition to the outdoor activities, our camps typically include wide games, campfires, music, dramas and craft, indoor games and hang out time.

Experienced Team Leaders, appointed by Scripture Union to direct the camps, come from a variety of professions and are committed to excellence. Team members are volunteers, who undergo an application process and attend training, so they can uphold the core values of Scripture Union and follow our safety procedures.

Who can come to camp?

  • Any school student is welcome. You don't need to go to a church or be a Christian.
  • Your 2011 school year level must be within the range given for the camp.
  • Most of our camps are Co-ed, but check in case your preferred camp is single-sex.

Camp fees

  • The camp fees are payable to Scripture Union and include GST.
  • The $60 deposit is part of the camp fee. It is not refunded if you change your mind.
  • The balance of the camp fee must be paid at least three weeks before camp. Please do NOT pay fees to the team at camp.
  • NOTE: another child may be given the place, if full payment is not received on time.
  • Families on low incomes, or with several children attending Scripture Union camps, may be eligible for assistance. Please contact Scripture Union for advice.

Registration process

We do not hold places – to get on camp, you need to register and pay your deposit.

First, send your registration form with full payment (or $60 deposit) to Scripture Union.

For internet payments, contact Scripture Union Camps before you register.
If camp is less than 3 weeks away, please pay full camp fees with your registration.
You can also download postal registration forms online.

Once Scripture Union has received your registration and money, you will be provisionally accepted on the camp. The Scripture Union Camps office will provide you with a Camper Letter giving details about personal gear, assembly point and camp activities.

If you have only paid the deposit, you need to pay the balance of the camp fees at least three weeks before camp begins to confirm your place on the camp.

Diet

If a camper needs a special diet, talk with the Local Contact Person before you register. Additional costs will apply and/or the camper may need to bring special food.

Travel

Personal travel from your home to the camp assembly point and return are your own responsibility to arrange and pay for. The local Contact Person may be able to advise you on transport options.

Activities and Gear

For more information about activities and gear for a particular camp, talk with the local Contact Person.
